Living Above Reproach

Community Guidelines

"Be completely humble and gentle; be patient, bearing with one another in love. Make every effort to keep the unity of the Spirit through the bond of peace." — Ephesians 4:2–3

These guidelines exist not to restrict, but to protect — to create a community where every member feels genuinely safe, valued, and able to create freely for the glory of God.

Our Foundation

"Do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit. Rather, in humility value others above yourselves." — Philippians 2:3

Luminara is a faith-rooted creative community. Everything we build — from the platform to the community culture — flows from a conviction that God-given creativity is sacred, and that community should reflect the character of Christ.

These guidelines are not legal fine print. They are a covenant — a shared commitment between every member of this community to protect, honour, and encourage one another in faith and in craft.

By joining Luminara, you are agreeing to live by these standards within all community interactions — online or in-person, in mentorship or in the broader platform.

Code of Conduct

Every Luminara member is expected to uphold the following non-negotiable standards of behavioural integrity:

  • Treat every person with the dignity they carry as image-bearers of God. This applies in comments, messages, feedback, and in-person interaction.
  • Be honest, transparent, and consistent in how you represent yourself, your work, and your intentions on the platform.
  • Do not misrepresent your work as original if it is not, or claim credentials, achievements, or affiliations you do not hold.
  • Handle disputes with grace and maturity. If you have a conflict with another member, seek direct and respectful resolution before escalating.
  • Zero tolerance for harassment, bullying, or manipulation of any kind — including passive aggression, exclusion, or public shaming of any member.
  • No recruitment of members for outside platforms, products, or programmes without prior written consent from the Luminara team.

Respectful Speech

"Let your conversation be always full of grace, seasoned with salt, so that you may know how to answer everyone." — Colossians 4:6

The words we use shape community culture more than any design or feature ever could. We hold speech to a high standard because we believe words carry weight.

  • All written and verbal communication must remain free from profanity, vulgarity, and derogatory language.
  • Creative critique should be constructive, specific, and delivered with the intent to build up — never to diminish.
  • Theological or doctrinal disagreements should be handled with humility and kept to appropriate channels, not public comment sections.
  • Racial, gender-based, or culturally insensitive language — even when framed as humour — is not acceptable and may result in immediate suspension.
  • Members should assume the best possible interpretation of another person's words before responding in a correction or complaint.

Safety & Communication Boundaries

To protect every member and maintain an above-reproach environment, the following communication boundaries apply across all interactions on the platform and within mentorship relationships:

Core Boundaries

  • All primary communication should occur on official Luminara channels. We strongly discourage the exchange of personal phone numbers during early stages of any relationship.
  • Mentorship sessions should be conducted via agreed video call platforms (e.g. Zoom, Google Meet). In-person meetings, where applicable, should take place in public spaces.
  • Communication hours: Out of respect for personal boundaries, mentors and mentees should aim to communicate only between 8am and 9pm in their respective time zones unless mutually agreed otherwise.
  • Romantic or sexual communication is strictly prohibited in any form, at any stage of a Luminara relationship. Any member found engaging in such behaviour will be permanently removed.
  • Financial solicitation — asking for loans, investments, or donations — between members is not permitted under any circumstances.

What a Healthy Relationship Looks Like

  • Regular, scheduled sessions with agreed agendas
  • Both parties feel free to speak openly and to decline topics without pressure
  • Prayer is a natural and welcomed part of the relationship
  • Neither party feels obligated financially, emotionally, or professionally
  • There is mutual respect for time, energy, and personal commitments

Mentorship-Specific Standards

These standards apply specifically to members participating in the Luminara Mentorship Programme.

  • Same-gender pairing is the standard for Luminara mentorship. Men mentor men; women mentor women. This is not a limitation — it is a boundary designed to protect the integrity of the relationship and honour all parties.
  • Mentors must not charge fees for their time within the Luminara programme. The relationship is a gift, not a commercial service.
  • Mentors should not require mentees to follow their theological convictions on secondary doctrinal matters. The focus is creative and spiritual growth, not doctrinal uniformity.
  • Both parties must notify the Luminara team if they wish to pause, end, or request a rematch before the 6-month cycle concludes.

Accountability & Confidentiality

"A gossip betrays a confidence, but a trustworthy person keeps a secret." — Proverbs 11:13

Trust is the bedrock of every meaningful community. Luminara takes confidentiality seriously:

What Must Stay Private

  • Personal prayer requests and spiritual struggles
  • Family or relational challenges shared in session
  • Financial situations or professional difficulties
  • Medical or mental health disclosures
  • Any personal information shared in confidence

What Must Be Reported

  • Expressed intent to harm oneself or others
  • Any form of abuse — physical, emotional, or sexual
  • Illegal activity or financial fraud
  • Grooming, coercive control, or exploitation
  • Child safety concerns of any kind

If you are unsure whether something must be reported, always err on the side of reporting. The Luminara team will handle all reports with discretion and pastoral care.

Content Standards

All work submitted to, shared on, or associated with Luminara must meet the following standards:

  • Original work only. You must own the rights to everything you upload. Plagiarism, unauthorised AI reproduction of others' work, or copyright infringement will result in content removal and possible account suspension.
  • Content must be appropriate for all ages unless clearly marked in an adults-only space (not currently available). Explicit sexual content, graphic violence, or occult themes are strictly prohibited.
  • Commercially or politically promotional content must be disclosed as such and submitted for approval before posting in community spaces.
  • Content that mocks, trivialises, or contradicts foundational Christian doctrine — the deity of Christ, the authority of Scripture, the sanctity of human life — is not appropriate for this platform.

Reporting a Concern

We take every concern seriously. If you experience or witness a guideline violation, here is what to do:

1
Document it. Where possible, screenshot or note the date, time, and nature of the incident before reporting.
2
Submit a report via our secure contact form. Select "Report a Concern" as your subject. All reports are treated with complete confidentiality.
3
Await a response. Our team will acknowledge your report within 48 hours and will communicate next steps without disclosing the identity of the reporter.
4
Resolution. Depending on the severity, outcomes may include a formal warning, temporary suspension, permanent removal, or referral to appropriate authorities.

You will never face retaliation for reporting in good faith. Luminara commits to protecting every person who raises a concern honestly and with the aim of safeguarding the community.

The Exit Strategy

Relationships — including mentorship — have seasons. Endings are not failures. A graceful, well-communicated ending honours both parties and protects the integrity of the programme.

Natural Conclusion

At the end of a 6-month cycle, both mentor and mentee complete a short reflection survey. The relationship formally closes with a final session and, if both parties agree, may be renewed for a second cycle.

Early Exit

If either party needs to exit early, they should notify the Luminara team at least 2 weeks in advance. A member of our team will facilitate a brief, respectful close-out conversation.

  • No reason is required to request an exit. "This isn't the right fit" is a complete and valid explanation.
  • Mentees may request a rematch after a 30-day cooling-off period.
  • Mentors who complete a full cycle in good standing receive a Luminara Mentor recognition badge on their profile.
  • All confidential information shared during the relationship remains protected even after its conclusion.

Your Agreement

By joining Luminara and participating in any aspect of the community — including the mentorship programme — you confirm that you have read, understood, and agree to uphold these guidelines in full.

Community Covenant

I commit to engaging with the Luminara community with integrity, grace, and a genuine desire to grow and to serve. I understand that these guidelines exist to protect every member, and I take personal responsibility for upholding them in all my interactions.
